About

My name is Pat Sharp.  I am the Reading Specialist which is a newly created position at Bryan Elementary School in Lexington.  I have taught 33 years in country schools, teaching mostly kindergarten through 3rd grade.  I have taught grades K-7th  during my career. The school where I was teaching had to close it's doors due to financial problems and lower enrollment so I substituted in the Lexington schools for two years and loved it.  This fall I was hired to help with reading.

I am married to Dann Sharp.  We like to travel, jeep in the mountains, garden, read, and dance.  We have been married for 35 years.  We have a daughter who is going to school to be a surgical tech.  We also have a black and white cat which is quite a character.  It is fun to tell the children stories about him.

I love to read and I hope I can help children not just learn to read, but learn to read with fluency and understanding.  I also hope that I can instill a love for reading in them.  When you are reading a book you always have something to look forward to doing.  Reading can be exciting.
