LEXINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS/TYSON
EARLY LEARNING ACADEMY
Thank you for taking a look at our school. Preschool education
with Lexington Public Schools began 8 years ago with the Migrant
Preschool Program. Over the past 3 years, Even Start, two
State-Funded Classes, Title I Class and a Migrant/Even Start Class have
all been added.
We are currently serving 180 three and four year old students housed in
the Tyson Plant at 1500 South Plum Creek Parkway in Lexington, Nebraska.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday with a morning class and an
afternoon class. Outdoor facilities provide large muscle
development, breakfast and lunch are served, and we strive to develop all areas
of child development including social, emotional, cognitive and
physical areas.
Our mission is to provide an academically accelerated curriculum, to
bring the children from where they are to being fully prepared for
Kindergarten. Our high expectations include such activities as
letter and sound recognition, writing their names, recognizing sight
words, numeration and computation, and instruction in Spanish and
English.
Parent involvement is a vital part of any educational program and is
greatly encouraged at our preschool. We involve parents through
activities such as sending home learning activity backpacks, family fun
nights, parent reader volunteers and parents helping teachers in the
classrooms.
